Dorothy Rutlin Lathan, Class of 1954, is a phenomenal woman! Raised in St. Louis, Missouri, she transferred to Lincoln University from Harris-Stowe State University in 1951. While at Lincoln University, she was very active on campus, and there she met Arthur Lathan, who had been married for almost 70 years. After relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area, she was one of the first black teachers. As a community activist, Dorothy’s commitment to the San Francisco Bay Area Alumni Chapter and the National Alumni Association has never wavered since joining the 1970s. Her commitment to the National Alumni Association has been shown over the years by attending many alumni conventions and chairing convention committees in 1987, 1993, and 2012, held in Oakland and San Francisco.  She is the chair of the 50th Anniversary Celebration to commemorate the chartering of the San Francisco Bay Area Alumni Chapter. As a true daughter of Lincoln University and a lifetime member of the National Alumni Association, we salute and thank her for her lifelong commitment to service and our mission. 

Just so you know, Dorothy was recognized as the oldest alum to attend the 2023 National Alumni Convention in Kansas City, Missouri. We love you, Dorothy!
